Lookee! Lookee!!! Me gottaward!!! Queen of ALLL Things! Just Awe-Summm!
The deal about this award is that I have to share 7 (SEVEN) awesome things about myself/my life. Well ... here goes ...
- In 1969, I got to fly out of Abilene, Texas, with my parents and sister, spend a couple of days in Hawaii, tour Tokyo and Hong Kong, and live in Australia for a year. A year later, I flew out of Sydney all by myself, went through International Customs by myself in Los Angeles, and went back to school in Abilene. It was a pretty AWE-SUMMM experience for the very naive kid I was at the time.
- I have lived from coast to coast in the USA, mostly because of Hubby Man's enlistment in the U.S. Coast Guard. We lived in beautiful places, like Pensacola, Florida; Yorktown, Virginia; and San Francisco, California (on Treasure Island). Some folks never leave the state they were born in; I think it's AWE-SUMMM that I got to see and appreciate other places in the USA [and the world].
- I always loved the guitar. Though I never took lessons, I messed around with it and wrote some songs. After reading a book DISCIPLINES OF THE BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, I set some goals, one of which was to copyright, record, and send some songs to Nashville. I had a good friend with a beautiful voice, and her hubby [really] played the guitar and drums. Several nights, we recorded and recorded. It was SO.MUCH.FUN. And then I put that tape and music in the mail. Five songs. AWE-SUMMM!
- When my mother died, I went back to school. Her death just set something off in me. Like an alarm clock. You can read all about it right here if you really want to, but the Cliff Notes would go something like this ... I worked part of the week and then drove 400 miles round-trip to get the job done at the school in Abilene I had started in the summer of 1967. When I graduated, loving family watched -- including hubby and all my kids, my first grand baby, my father, my aunt and uncle, my brother and his wife. It was a huge celebration for me. I always encourage people to go back to school. Finish the job. Lifelong learning can't be beat. It keeps us young and AWE-SUMMM.
- I entered my first writing contest in 2004. It was so AWE-SUMMM to learn that my true story had won an award! I need to share that story some time because you really won't believe what happened to "Grayboy" ...
- I yodel. But badly. So I really don't know if that counts as AWE-SUMMM ... but tough. I'm using it anyway.
- I am a baby boomer. I believe that baby boomers are bridges. Many in our generation fought in Vietnam and Korea. Our parents fought in World War II. We have children in Generation X. Boomers are a bridge from past to present ... mediators ... helping younger generations to learn how important it is to fight for freedom, for marriage, for our faith, for whatever we believe in and consider important. Don't give up. Never give up. I believe it is awe-summm to be a baby boomer. Sure, I have some aches. I have to take Aleve sometimes so my fingers will bend. My feet have to be willed to walk some mornings. My knees will never be the same again. I'll never do a back bend again, or a cartwheel or somersault. But I am an awe-summm baby boomer. I want my kids and grand kids to remember that I loved life. That I kept living it as long as I could. Enjoy life. This is not a dress rehearsal. And understanding that is simply AWE-SUMMM.
Visit my friend Kathleen who awarded me this honor. You'll see that she's pretty AWE-SUMMM, too! http://ez4me2say.blogspot.com
Now ... as for the "seven" people I am to award this to, I've thought and thought about this. I follow some awe-summm blogs. And some awe-summm bloggers follow me. I want to spread the love. If you would like to take this lovely award for being so awe-summm ~ please grab it. It's actually pretty neat to share a little bit about your life.
All I ask is that you
(1) link back to me, just so I'll know.
(2) And of course, be CERTAIN THAT YOU share seven (7) AWE-SUMMM things about yourself!

Great list, but I should find it very hard going to think of seven awesome thing about me as good as these. Might have a go anyway, enough of this false modesty, Annie.

Great award & great list!
I'm facinated by the yodeling. Can you vlog this??? **smile***
Thanks for your Awe-Summ comment over at my place. I haven't heard anything except that some dinosaur bones were found here recently - I'll need to do some more research to find out what and where and when.
We do have our Muttaburrasaurus though. That was discovered in 1963.
In the meantime, I could head out into the yard and grab some soil for you - surely people won't know the difference?
you yodel???? woweeeeee! that deserves an award in itself. i knew a lady who did, but she's passed on, so that leaves you as the only person who knows how. is it maybe a dying art that. but enough about yodelling. congratulations on your well deserved award mimi!
I'm going to have to mull over some awe-summm things from my life. (Note-- they aren't necessarily AWE-SUMMM.)
Hi ~ What an awe-summm way to learn about a new blogging friend. You have had many awe-summ experiences and certainly live life to the fullest. Enjoy each day!
So fun to learn those things about you.
My boss is from Abilene. I always tease him when he gets deep into his accent, telling him he's speaking Abilenian again.
What a nice thing to do, sharing about yourself! Thanks!
I love being an Awe-summm baby boomer too. Your list was great, thanks for sharing.
