There's something like a line of gold thread running through a man's words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself. ~John Gregory Brown, Decorations in a Ruined Cemetery, 1994
This is my father, 90 years old, a World War II Army Veteran who served his country for two years and came back home to his wife and 18-month old son who was born while Dad was in the War. Lots of sacrifices were made for the cause of freedom.
Dad is not and never will be a rich man. He chose to preach and still does when asked. I have friends whose fathers passed long ago, and I count myself blessed to still have mine. No, he is not rich, but life is rich because of him ... a line of gold thread running through his words ...

Welcome to Sunday Citar, when we share our photo(s) ...

This is a beautiful post. I feel the same way about my father. Blessed.
What a lovely quote and beautiful post. Makes this daddy's girl all teary eyed.
Oh, how blessed you are to still have your daddy!! My daddy passed away in 1993 at the age of 75...so young!! Tomorrow would have been his 93rd birthday....
He too was a preacher and if he was still living, he would probably still be preaching here and there, too!!

This is a beautiful post and you are lucky to still have your dad. He is a very handsome young looking 90 year old.
I'm a daddy's girl too! My dad is fighting cancer at 78 years of age. So far....he's winning! I know I have been blessed to have him so long, but I'm greedy. I want more time.
Beautiful quote that I have never heard before, and handsome man your did is! :)
Be blessed~
Daddy got to go to Heaven 15 years ago. His golden wrap warms me to this day. But his tapestry was not of made with words but of hugs, laughter and silent moments sitting side by side.
So many blessed daughters here...
I'm thanking everyone who dropped by and lifted my spirits so high today. Hope you all have a blessed week.
Oh what a beautiful and amazing post. Brings up the same emotions with my father. Blessed and loved. Great post :)
